By land and sea, the house is situated on the banks of Tomales Bay at the edge of a coastal live oak forest. Inspired by the regional farm vernacular, the exterior is clad in locally sourced cypress timber. With careful attention to scale and expression of craftsmanship, the interiors are a blend of stained and painted wood. Thoughtfully placed doors and windows frame the views of the surrounding nature. The goal was to create a cozy and casual yet carefully curated family retreat that compliments and does not compete with the setting.
